Update: Prototype mane done.
---
Updated: Stuffed! I'm quite proud of the ears. They took ages to make. @_@
---
How should I handle WIP pictures, dear watchers? Should I submit them directly to my scraps or update them?

Well, immediately decided to drop everything else and sew her after seeing the episode.

I guess it won't be the first Flutterbat plushie. I'm so slow. :(

Loving the embroidery! I saw your post on your eye base and program but what machine do you use?

I cannot find a decent machine for <$500!! which would be fine if i could drum up the business! But i'm just not sure I could.

Thanks! I'm using a Brother SE400. It's a lovely machine for little money which sadly is only available in America. Being German I imported it and it was still cheaper than the European model. You're Australian, right? I think Nazegoreng has the Australian equivalent of the SE400, but I'm not sure.

Cost me about $1500 for it over here

I am! Every time i walk into the local craft stores and peruse embroidery machines i die a little inside haha!

I will ask the assistant next time i'm there about brother models! I have to be missing something! Thank you so much for your reply :) It must be very annoying getting asked the same things over and over again! xo

Not at all. I don't have that many followers, I'm happy about every comment! :)

And hey, maybe you could import it as well. I ordered it on Amazon. Of course the shipping will be ridiculous, but it's still a reaaally good deal.

That is a pretty good deal!! I think i'll make up some plushies over the new few weeks and see if anyone is interested in them before i take the plunge (uni student, little money) but i am bookmarking that!

PS - i found you on r/mylittlepony!

Wow man, those ears are totally awesome! Are they actually concave too, or are those shadows just playing with my head? I also like how her mouth indents over the teeth too. Oh! By the way, if you want to adjust the poof-outy-ness of the butt, you can take in the butt on the inner leg gusset a bit, I've fixed that on my new pattern revisions. :)

Thanks! They are concave! The rim is detached from the inner ear and I sewed them in a slight curve. I made the teeth with sculpey and glued them on sanded off safety eyes. :)

poof-outy-ness

I will probably adjust the leg angle a bit, though. But at the moment I'm trying to figure out how to not completely obfuscate her ear with Fluttershy's mane... OTL

:icontwiblushplz: Thanks! Yeah, actually sewing an inner ear is much more complicated than just appliqueing it. I don't regret it though.

Her ears look fantastic! I'd say your hard work definitely paid off in that regard. :) Great work, and I can't wait to see the finished plush!

(Personally, I prefer WIP photos either in scraps or in a separate folder- but there's nothing wrong with updating the deviation instead!)

Those ears and the teeth are sweet man! :D I wouldn't fret about being slow. I haven't even finished my commission and it sounds like I'm not done with the doctor yet either. :iconraritypoutplz: I've already seen a Coco plush too. :O

If you don't post WIP pics that often, I don't think regular deviations would be a problem. ^^ Looking good.

Did you hear about season 5 yet? I saw it earlier today. Makes me seriously wonder how this season is going to end. :iconrarityhoofinmouthplz:

Yeah, I guess taking things slowly has its advantages, too. Got plenty of inspiration from other Flutterbats now! I definitely want to make a prehensile tail like SpaceVoyager did.
And yes, that Coco plush was done insanely fast. I think sugarstitch did it!

Yay for Season 5! More plushies! :XD:

Oh, by the way, is there any secret to making Flutters' tail tip go sideways? I can't figure it out. ^^;

Yea! It's a little hard to explain, but I tilt the end of the tail downward so when it sits on the ground it pushes up on the little twirl and you can push it to the side. Hope that helps!

Well it sorta is, just cuz when it sits it naturally does that. But yea XD Oh, I have a little question for you if you don't mind me asking. Do you know if Embird can do custom satin stitch samples/patterns? I was reading around and it seems like it can, I think, but I can't figure out how. I'm wondering if my version is just too old to do it or something. :/

Hmm, you can create patterned columns with custom patterns!
What would you like to do?

Oh my so complex XD; Well it may sound a little silly, but my friend got me the bootleg Milky plush, and I've been staring at the way they embroidered the eyes: sta.sh/01banjhqjjn3 It looks as though the stitches are offset, so there are blended columns of the satin stitches, rather than going the whole width.

I managed to do something similar with my last fluttershy eye, and I'm trying to do it on a bigger sized eye now: sta.sh/0ouwvwltf20 but it will only let me make one 'row', there's a bit of a distinct line in the middle, but it's not too noticeable. I wanted to do it this way to allow me to make larger and more durable satin stitches but I can't seem to make any custom samples... T_T;

:XD: The irony!

Now I get what you mean. Yeah, you want a patterned column. The regular satin stitch samples don't shift so you get that line in the middle.

You can convert any column to a patterned column via the convert menu. Then just assign a pattern like you'd do with a regular fill. I like Fill 2 with a bit of random shift.

Looks good, by the way! I tried a combination of applique + satin stitches as well. You might want to add some heavy iron-on interfacing to the applique fabric if you want to get rid of the wrinkles.
